Maker Club this Friday
As always, we're hanging out in the Unleash Space tomorrow (Friday) from 5:30 PM. Come join us! As the holidays continue, we'll be keeping things chill. This means no scheduled activities or projects - instead, we encourage you to bring your own and join us in the space! If you don't have a project right now, then we encourage you to consider signing up for one of these events:
Here's our shortlist of upcoming events in the world of making:
22nd-24th July: Kiwijam '22
Have you ever thought about what it takes to make a game? Kiwijam is a weekend challenge to go from start to finish on making a digital or physical game. It's designed for everyone: "Maybe you join a team, or maybe you become a voice actor, musician, game piece maker, laser cutter, or a play-tester. Kiwijam welcomes all newcomers with open arms."
12th & 13th July: Whangārei Day of The Thread!
Fancy a trip up north? The Maker Club is partnering with Questionable Research Labs to send a small group up to Whangārei for their Thread Days Event on the 12th-13th of July. If you are keen to volunteer some time to teach thread and fibre arts skills to the next generation of young makers and creators, get in touch. We'll provide free accommodation in Whangarei and we're currently puzzling out options for transportation (if you have a car we need you!).
12th-14th August: 48 Hour Film Challenge
Come join our 48HOURS maker club team! If you haven't heard of it before, it's very simple; filmmakers have just one weekend to make a short film (kind of like Kiwijam above). We'll be entering at least one team into the challenge this year, and while we already have a great group of folk, we're always looking for more! You can read more about this event here:
