🧶 Sewing & Alterations Workshop

This Wednesday: Learn the basics of sewing, patterns & cutting, and alterations, hosted by Hannah!

🧶 Sewing & Alterations Workshop

This Wednesday night at 6:30pm- 8pm, we’re running a super awesome sewing and alterations workshop fundraiser alongside CT Hannah!

Hannah is an expert in sewing, she has made many projects over the years from dance costumes to her high school graduation dress! Last year, she completed a semester of training at WhiteCliffe in sewing skills, and this workshop will be a crash course that squashes everything she learned in that training into ONE super awesome evening!

Hannah and the Maker Club will be showing you the basic building blocks of sewing, understanding patterns and cutting, how to use a sewing machine, and how to alter your favourite clothes that just don’t fit quite right anymore. We find in the Makers Space that frequent users of the sewing machine or those just starting out want to learn how to make an alteration or make a project from scratch, and this workshop will show you how to get started!

The Sewing Building Blocks class is a fundraiser for I Am Hope NZ. They’re an amazing mental health awareness charity that focuses on helping young people, by changing the attitude towards mental health to a more open and inclusive discussion, and reminding them they are not alone.

This workshop is $5 per person with all proceeds going to I Am Hope. There are limited spaces, so get in quick! This is a donation, and you are welcome to make it larger if you’re feeling extra philanthropic 😉

FREE: Spontaneous Sculpture Workshop

The George Fraser Gallery has an interesting event coming up they've asked us to share!

Join us for a contemporary sculpture workshop led by Katrina Beekhuis and Ambrose O’Meagher, who will guide in the creation of temporary sculptures and installations developed through conversation, collaboration, and chance. Through close engagement with the surrounding environment, salvaging materials and re-purposing everyday objects, you’ll be encouraged to employ the power of luck and chance in the art-making process. This workshop embraces the potential of daily moments to expand awareness and spur thought.

This workshop is best suited to ages 16 years and older.
